Key West Real Estate
Tropical living in the Florida Keys
Key West real estate had some crazy times in the past few years. Lots of great property was being sold so fast that it was difficult to even get a showing in before an offer was already on the table to buy the property. The investment was solid in real estate in the Florida Keys and believe it or not it still is.
Yes prices dropped dramatically after Hurricane Wilma hit. Our community and islands were hit hard with flooding. Fortunately many of the newer homes built in the Florida Keys are on stilts, which left only storage areas that were flooded. Others were not as fortunate and therefore there are a lot of newly remodeled homes on the market today.
That is okay though. For the buyer, this is a good time to get in on Key West before the market goes crazy again. Prices are down slightly which makes it easier to get a home on the water with boat dockage, or a home in Old Town Key West. Key West may not see a hurricane like WIlma for a very long time, why be shy and not buy now? Insurance rates are high for windstorm, flood and home owners hazard insurance but in the end when you look at your piece of paradise, you'll be glad that you live here.
