Tarpon Fishing at Night

Florida Keys tarpon fishingNight Tarpon Fishing Fun in Key West

Night tarpon fishing is equally as popular as fishing for the Silver King during the day. Tarpon feed better at night and will often eat shrimp right off the surface of the water. Tarpon trips in the evening generally go out around 5PM until 8PM offering a fabulous sunset view and some of the most memorable light tackle or fly fishing for tarpon that you will ever experience.

Palolo Worm Hatch

One of the most amazing things to witness in saltwater fishing is a worm hatch. Each year during the full or new moon in May and June the Keys experience a hatch of small red and white worms. These worms hatch from the hard coral rock on the ocean side of the Keys. Many Florida Keys guides will tell you that they have also witnessed a worm hatch in the backcountry but generally speaking it happens on the oceanside flats of the Keys. Some more famous spots to fish for tarpon during the worm hatch is in front of Ft. Zachary Taylor or at the Bahia Honda Bridge.
